There's a small area in the museum for some old signals. Some aren't running yet, but will soon.

Some pictures are taken in 640x480 resolution. File sizes range from 37 to 134 KB.

They have a wigwag on display here.

I think these are older means of semaphore control. Only the right one works.

It's hard to tell from the lack of light, but these are color light signals. Three lights for each color: red, yellow, and green.

An old semaphore.

This is a searchlight signal, that is very popular to find.

6

They also have an upright wigwag here too.

(RECORDED 2003. THE UPRIGHT WIGWAG SOUNDS FIRST, THEN THE CANTILEVER WIGWAG.)

These were taken on February 25, 2003. I took these pictures before I learned that most of them work! All signals work except for #4 and 5 which aren't controlled yet. The wigwag worked on this day, but when I returned on Saturday, March 1, it wasn't working.

7

I checked out the wigwag on March 11, 2005, and it still wasn't working. The light would come up, but the banner would not swing.

Here's a new attraction to the museum. This antique 12"x20" signal isn't operating since at least 2010.

There are no lights on the gate as of March 11, 2005. I don't know if that'll change though.

Right to the left of the signal, is another relay case, and I'm told that another mast flasher will be installed to simulate a one-way crossing. It wasn't up when I was there on March 11 and 12, but it should happen soon.

Picture 11 has one missing 20" background. Hopefully they can find one soon. Pictures taken March 11, 2005 except for picture 11, which was taken March 12, 2005.

12

Here's a searchlight signal in action. I don't think the lights change colors though. This is not manually controlled, and stays lit all day long.

13

14

Here's a new color light signal that went up not too long ago. The red and yellow lenses aren't the same type for some reason.

I didn't get a green light, because it was too high up for me to get a good view, but it did light up.

Here's another color light signal right next to the other one in pictures 13 and 14. Both signals light up with the same push of one button.

The LARY crossbuck still lives on!

This was installed in early 2005. Pretty cool.

I have no idea what this is. A possible dwarf signal?

I've never seen a signal like this before. It didn't work unfortunately.

Amazingly on March 12, the wigwag was working again! One slight change was that when the bell only sounded when the banner swang to the right.

The upright wigwag still moves, but the bell really didn't sound very often. It would maybe sound every 5 swings or so.

This was here when I was here in 2003. According to what the OERM says, this is a crossing bell that pre-dated wigwags!

Unfortunately, the company that made this bell, and how old the bell is unknown.

It would work like today's bells in a way. You can barely see the moving part in picture 26. It wasn't working in 2003, but it worked just fine on March 12, 2005. I'm glad to hear it work. It was very loud though, but I enjoyed it.

Here's the semaphore from picture 4. It works to the extent that only a yellow light stays lit. The main part of the semaphore doesn't move to allow a red or green light unfortunately. Pictures 11-27 were taken March 12, 2005.

A wide view of the garden on August 6, 2005.

Note how tiny the whole garden is...

Here's the cantilever wigwag. I tested it, and it ran perfectly as it did back in 2003. I also ran the upright one, and it did run, but it only rang about half the time it should have. Still not bad though.

More pictures of the tri-color light signal with a huge weed growing in front of it.

Here's the other signal I was talking about earlier. It's a long way from completion though. I found the crossbucks nearby though, and took pictures of them.

The middle of the lights says "Safetran", but they appear to look more like Griswold lights?

The 20" background is still missing.
More details of the other signal. These lights are 8", which was a little unexpected for me to see. I expected to see 12" 20 lights here.

40

More angles of tri-color signals as seen in pictures 13 and 14. No changes could be found, and I still wasn't able to get tall enough to get a picture of the green light.
