This crossing is located on the CSX Main Line, a former L&N main line that later became a branch line before being mothballed for several years before it was finally abandoned.

Recently, CSX looked at possibly restoring service to this line, so they replaced the gates (and possibly the gate lights as well) at this crossing.

However, from what I've heard, it would've cost the railroad somewhere in the ballpark of $7,000,000 dollars to repair the track, so they decided to abandon the line.
