This crossing is located on the UP Joliet Sub.
This massive setup replaced an older
pair of gated signals in the early 2000s that had 12"x20" or 12"x24"
incandescents, older style WCH gate mechanisms, and 1 or 2 Safetran M
Originally, the quad signals had 4" WCH incandescent gate lights, but were replaced with Aurora LEDs around 2009.
In mid 2017, pedestrian gates were added to the crossing. The main signals remain unchanged.
Overview of the updated setup facing east.
Overview facing west.
The new western pedestrian gate.
The new eastern pedestrian gate. Both gates have a WCH base, WCH gate mechanism, and a 4" RECO LED.
One thing to note in the video below, which I never knew about until I
watched this video back, is that there are sensors to detect if a car
is still in the crossing, and if there is, that gate will rise again
momentarily to let the car go through.
