This crossing is located on the UP Joliet Sub.
In 2012, the concrete grade shown in
Picture 21 was replaced with a newer concrete grade during a major
track upgrade to make this line 110 mph for Amtraks.
The gate holders were also replaced around the same time.
These signals replaced a pair of crossbucks in the early 2000s.
The gates originally had 4" WCH incandescents, but were replaced wtih Aurora LEDs around 2009.
In November 2016, I noticed a new bungalow pop up along with wiring all around the crossing.
Views of the new bungalow, plus a resurfaced grade. Also note that the private crossing signs were removed.
By April 2017, the crossing was upgraded with quad gates. 3 new
signals were installed with the eastern signal remaining in place, but
now it has a newer gate, a Safetran base was added, and the crossbuck
was moved up the signal to better match the high mounted crossbucks on
the new signals. The older relay bungalow was also removed.
Overview of the new ginormous setup facing east.
Overview facing west.
The new western main signal. I'm not sure they didn't reuse the old signal on this side, but they did for the other side.
