This crossing is located on the former IANR Cedar Falls Utilities Spur.
On
August 26, 2022, the last freight train ran on this line. It picked up
some rolling stock that was left in storage at the Cedar Falls
Utilities (which was last placed there in the summer of 2020).
Later on December 12, 2023, marks when the final train used this line.
It was in fact, a rare IANR buisness train for CN to do an inspection
of the line, due to their recent interest of buying out IANR at the
time.
Unfortunately,
the last and only customer on this line has stopped business with IANR,
and plans were made to rip up the rails in 2023, but the line still
remains as of 2024.
No
progress on ripping up the tracks have been done, and it appears the
line and its crossings will remain for many more years, slowly rotting
away.
These older gateless signals have since been replaced, with newer
gated ones, along with pedestrian signals in place since at least 2020.

The Eastbound signal. This signal has
Griswold Type B incandescent lights and a WRRS mechanical bell.
|
Don't expect to see a train here as this track is very seldom used.

A return visit in October 2024 by Hopen111 shows the new IANR installation and some new RECO Low Profile LEDs?!?

There are surprisingly some new RECO Low Profile LEDs here! They appear
to have been installed between July 2022-Sep 2023 according to Google
Maps.

The relay bungalow in the northwest quadrant. | The grade is all concrete. |
A derail has been placed just south of the crossing; another sign of this line being OOS.
There are also some tall signs that say "NO CLEARANCE AHEAD". Never seen these before.
