Re: I reject your "Board Warning".

Others also "hear" lights. (Remember, it's not actual sound, no pitch, but a subtle aural stimulation.) Who is others? Perhaps yourself! This is subtle and not something readily noticed or detected. An example is if you are in a dark environment with a light flashing. In addition to your visi...

I reject your "Board Warning".

The subject of a 5-year-old boy naming grade crossing signals "Mee-Mool" lights (not "Moo") is as relevant as any other subject about railroad crossing signals. (If there is a better location for this post, please move it.) My brilliant great uncle, a genius and PRR steam locomotivengineer, thought ...

Re: train vs log truck

So, his log truck just happened to lose brakes just before the crossing? Appears that he was trying to beathe train and realized athe last momenthat he was too late. Log truck drivers are paid by the load. Time = money so they drive as fast as possible and hate delays of any kind. Hauling dirt, I wa...

Re: Google Street View

I would have taken the photo, anyway. Anyone in public can be videoed or photographed. If he doesn't want to be in the photograph, he can get himself out of view if he wishes. Obviously you are going to do what you want to do... but a little common courtesy goes a long way, and can keep someone fro...

Funny.
Wish I could place a similar sign at our front door. HOA won't allow it.
So rude of Jehovah's Witlesses, Mormon Elders and others to awaken me.
I work at night.

Re: Google Street View

...The driver was dressed pretty snappy in a shirt and tie, but asked me not to take his picture. I was fine with that. I see the lenses have an improved, full circle basket of protection now. You have every right to photo the driver if in a public setting. You need not even ask. Asking risks a "No...

Anyone have their own name for grade crossing signals?

"Mee-Mool" lights! As a 5-year-old, maybe younger, I perceived a "sound" from the flashing grade crossing signalights. I did not hear any actual sound, but noticed an "aural effect" likely perceived in thearing part of the brain. So, I named railroad crossing signals "Mee-Mool" lights after the "sou...

Re: Any photos of relay which makes lights alternately flash?

Thank you!

That is what I recall!
Wish the photos were taken closer. I had to enlarge to read.
One was 40 to 60 flashes per minute.
The other 40 to 45 fpm. (I recall they had a slower flash rate years ago.)

Anyone knowhat caused the relay to slow to the desired flash rate?

Any photos of relay which makes lights alternately flash?

As a 6-year-old boy, a signal maintainer showed the relay to me. I recall that it was glass-encased and the case was on springs. (All were.) I could not figure out what controlled (slowed) the relay flip-flop rate. (I'd expect it to flip-flop as fast as it could.) Back then it was about one flash pe...
