Infamous Fox River Grove crossing bell replaced

I was playing around with Google Maps and decided to check out the infamous railroad crossing in Fox River Grove, Illinois, on Algonquin Rd. where the school bus was hit by a Metra commuter train in October 1995, killing seven teenagers. Some time in the mid-2010s, the mechanical bell that was there...

Blizzard-induced crossing accident in Bridgewater MA!

Yes, we are aware of that big blizzard that hit a couple of days ago. On that day in Bridgewater MA, an elderly couple driving an SUV ended up getting stuck on the Broad St. railroad crossing in Bridgewater MA due to the snow just as an outbound MBTA commuter train was to approach. Fortunately, two ...

Re: Crossing upgrade in Taunton MA

Thread bump, because three other crossings in Taunton were upgraded back in September. The old crossing signal setups still appear on Google Earth (they are on Winthrop St., Porter St. and Cohannet St.) Prior to this September, the crossings had what appear to have been Safetran gated signals with 8...

Re: More Safetran bells may be going down...

The MBTA started switching to using e-bells around the mid-to-late 2000s, and for the most part, they're still keen on using WCH. However, at one railroad crossing in Abington MA they did install a General Signal e-bell (like the WCH e-bells, it too is replacing a Safetran mechanical bell.)

Re: MBTA crossing malfunction in Bridgewater MA...

I think the crossing has been fixed now. It still has the 8" lights, but the Safetran gate arms and the mechanical bells were replaced with the WCH equivalents (Type-2 e-bells that ring quite slowly.) I've known this crossing for a very long time, and compared to the photos I submitted to this site ...

Crossing upgrade in Taunton MA

So one of my friends is moving to live with her dad in Taunton, and on the way to drop her off, we found that a railroad crossing on Dean St. had been upgraded! I remember it was previously a passive crossing owned by CSX, with crossbucks only. Here's the crossing before the upgrade... http://i.imgu...

Re: Update #850

I noticed the most recent updates seem to only be limited by one state. I was wondering if you got those two sets of updated crossing photos from Massachusetts I sent you? I hope to see them soon put on the site as well

Wow!

I thought I had submitted an update to the crossing on Broad St. in Bridgewater MA, but I guess no one got my pictures and info?
