Re: Truck hits side of Amtrak Train near Fallon, Nevada

My friend was on that train, he is the one that took those photos on railpics.

It is starting to sound like the trucking company has lots of safety violations, and that the truck may have lost its brakes and wasn't able to stop. If that's the case, then it becomes an even bigger tragedy.

Try this:

That's why I'm getting out of model trains. It's cheaper to collect horns from real trains.

Re: Let the comments... BEGIN!

People seem to have a hard time seeing/paying attention to a RAILROAD signal, so maybe they will pay more attention to a traffic signal. (Hopefully) I don't like the look of it but if it saves lives I'm all for it.

Homemade e-bell

I remember seeing a forum thread about someone that made a homemade e-bell. I can't seem to find it, does anybody know where it is?

Re: anybody know what this lamp is?

Definitely possible, and could explain the damage. It's more likely that a collision would have just shattered the light, but hey, stranger things have happened!

Re: anybody know what this lamp is?

There is no difference between a locomotive ditch light or a locomotive headlight, it's all the same bulbs, just the headlight has two right next to each other. Does look to be a loco light. They are 75V DC, about 8 to 10 inches wide if I remember.

Re: Old Pedestrian Crossing

Didn't a lot of those crossings used to have mini bells? I think my mini may have come from one of those setups.
