Re: Australian Railroad Crossing Signals

Hi all! I just got back from a road trip to Yarrawonga and Bendigo and was able to check out some equipment in the area. First of all, I am pleased to report that the Westinghouse Teardrop at Yarrawonga is still there! :TUP1: https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/51744318169_03b84dfb8a_z.jpg IMG_6342 ...

Re: Australian Railroad Crossing Signals

I was in Castlemaine the other day and was able to check out Maclise St. Nothing has changed signal wise, although the road has been re-surfaced and new sleepers have been installed next to the crossing: https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/51722031020_bc4d957a03_z.jpg IMG_6281 by Christian Nolan , o...

Re: Australian Railroad Crossing Signals

Thanks for sharing the pictures, Chris and Jack. They are a prefect example of why I’m not as big as fan of trains and crossing signals as I used to be. Most of the interesting stuff has either been butchered, replaced, or completely removed by Metro, V/Line, VicRoads, and especially the Victorian ...

Re: Australian Railroad Crossing Signals

Great pictures Chris, it’s sad to see the Bungaree Loop pretty much gone as it would’ve been interesting to walk it from start to finish. I’ve been regularly checking Lydiard Street out and the new boom gated setup will be operational on Tuesday and I’m hoping to film the crossing in action that da...

Re: Australian Railroad Crossing Signals

So I was in the Ballarat area today and had the chance to check out a few things while I was there. First of all, I was really surprised to see that the entire Bungaree loop has been completely removed! I was aware that the line was decommissioned in December last year, but I thought the infrastruct...

Re: Australian Railroad Crossing Signals

Since my last post of crossing updates in May. I have quite a lot of things to share with you all. Those are some great updates Jack, thanks for sharing! :TUP2: I didn't think I'd ever see a quad gate setup on Puffing Billy, but here we are! Good to see they're still installing mechanical bells on ...

Re: Australian Railroad Crossing Signals

Dunno how busy the road itself is, but I could see that playing a factor. Safety reasons could've been another one. If more services are run during rush-hour periods, that too could factor into the decision to remove it. Hell, maybe the people in the area just wanted the government to remove it, ev...

Re: Australian Railroad Crossing Signals

I was in Williamstown today and was surprised to see that the Giffard St crossing is currently not-electrified! The original overhead gantry has been entirely replaced, but the new overhead wires have not been installed yet. Here's what the crossing currently looks like: https://live.staticflickr.co...

Re: Australian Railroad Crossing Signals

What a shame. :Cry1: It looks like Donnybrook Road's Hybrids might also be in danger as I noticed there is a lot of track work going on in the area with signs warning motorists of upcoming crossing works.
