Re: Australian Railroad Crossing Signals

There have been more bell replacements on the Portland line, all 3 cases involved hybrid bells being replaced with Siemens e-bells. Re: Australian Railroad Crossing Signals

Mildura seems to be stuck in a time capsule when it comes to what is protecting their level crossings. Despite being a major regional city, there’s only three gated crossings across the whole area, those being the Calder Highway, Cowra Avenue, and the Benetook Avenue & 11th Street crossings. Obviou...

Re: Australian Railroad Crossing Signals

Some nice finds there, seems the crossings on the SA part of the line have done a little better than the VIC ones which are all gone. Also I forgot to mention that the last Lex-C lights at Brighton Parade, Blackwood were replaced during March, the entire crossing was upgraded with UGL lights :Cry1: ...

Re: Australian Railroad Crossing Signals

I can report that during February 2023 the crossing at Angas Rd, Hawthorn was upgraded with new UGL LED lights and the Lex-C lights are no more. Google actually managed to capture the old lights during their final month of service in January 2023. I was unable to get pictures of the new lights due ...

Re: Australian Railroad Crossing Signals

BTW, I have some interesting news to share. According to a signalling technician from Metro who I was lucky enough to speak to today, the old un-adjusted GS Type 1 E-Bells at Macaulay Rd in Kensington were originally installed as a trial all the way back in mid 2002 and were the first ones in the c...

Re: Australian Railroad Crossing Signals

Sadly Hunts Road, Freshwater Creek has had it's new gated signals installed and commissioned as of yesterday, so sadly this means it's R.I.P to the last ever mechanical bells on the Warrnambool line. :Awww: :aaargh: I ended up heading down to the crossing on our way home from Lorne this afternoon a...

Re: Australian Railroad Crossing Signals

Second road trip was a quick visit to Victoria to check out some northeast line crossings. The Mcmahons Rd crossing at Springhurst remains gateless despite foundations for new gated signals being installed over a year ago https://www.google.com.au/maps/@-36.2082075,146.4541327,3a,37.5y,281.7h,84.33t...

Re: Australian Railroad Crossing Signals

I'm not sure if this has been posted before, but while browsing street view, I found out that Toolamba Rd in Toolamba, Victoria had a Safetran M-Bell back in 2007: https://www.google.com.au/maps/@-36.4789368,145.3186357,3a,74.9y,190.27h,90.89t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sQiSX-ibgEssgHV0OjNm6Sg!2e0!7i3328!8...

Re: Australian Railroad Crossing Signals

Found an updated streetview image of Sisely Ave, Wangaratta showing the signal which had it's Westinghouse EB gate mech replaced by a new WCH one, and the Westinghouse hybrid bell replaced by a Safetran type 3 e-bell https://www.google.com.au/maps/@-36.3605394,146.3094038,3a,30y,230.64h,88.53t/data=...
