Re: Australian Railroad Crossing Signals
This is a bit of a late response to all this good news about the hybrid bells replacing Safetran type-3 e-bells, but I thought I'd add something. I went to the VR Workshops in Albert Park in May, and the guy there told me he was gonna receive a whole bunch of hybrid bells (apparently about 20, altho...

Re: Australian Railroad Crossing Signals
Unfortunately, I have some rather sad news to share. Remember this Westinghouse Teardrop Bell at Dreamworld? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KilhtwRu6SE Well, sadly that bell is now gone. :Awww: Sometime over the past couple of months, the entire cave structure was removed and the only crossing equi...

Re: Australian Railroad Crossing Signals
There's been an accident at the School Road crossing on the Puffing Billy Railway today, first thing foremost is that no one appears to be seriously hurt... http://www.heraldsun.com.au/news/victoria/puffing-billy-collides-with-bus/news-story/e01682283994501147bc06cea98debb2 Going by the pictures, t...

Re: Australian Railroad Crossing Signals
Sorry, I’m not trying to be an arse but I think they were removed first because those crossings are some of the busiest in terms of trains and traffic. I don’t even live in the area, but in the times that I’ve passed through (this wasn’t even in peak hour, or anywhere near it) a single train could ...

Re: Australian Railroad Crossing Signals
Saw this one about an hour ago now. It says that the boom gates will go down one last time on January 29th. Goodbye to the last remaining (but non functional) teardrop bell in Melbourne... Which also happens to be my favourite suburban crossing... :Awww: https://www.flickr.com/photos/155840215@N03/...

Re: Australian Railroad Crossing Signals
[/YouTube] Uralla also had a cast iron teardrop bell which would make it quite old, you can tell because the mounting bolt for the mast is at the front (same side as gong), the aluminium ones were at the back. Wish I had filmed the crossing before the upgrade :Awww: https://www.google.com.au/maps/@-...

Re: Australian Railroad Crossing Signals
Centre Road - This one's had BIG changes made to it. It first received new gate mechs in January and the western gated signal was replaced completely at the same time. Then sometime in June, the eastern median signal had a gate mast added behind it with a Invensys Rail mech (likely from Mountain Hi...

Re: Australian Railroad Crossing Signals
I can't believe Metro is getting away with replacing every single m-bell on the the network. :Curse1: So many crossings have been completely ruined by both Connex & Metro over the past ten years (though the latter has caused more damage than the former). Like Grange Road, Alphington. How did go fro...

Re: Australian Railroad Crossing Signals
I happen to have some updates on the old signals in Maryborough, Victoria. Nice pictures. Judging by the fact that the tracks have been paved over at McClure Street, I suspect that the signals are going to be removed soon, VicRoads (aka. NaziRoads) seems to be doing that to a lot of crossings on cl...

This passive crossing at Lake St, Ganmain NSW is due for an upgrade next month http://www.jhrcrn.com.au/media/3583/ctn-0292-2017-poss-lxing-upgrade-ganmain.pdf An interesting thing about the old passive crossing is the crossbucks seem to be mounted on old bus stop sign posts!! https://www.google.co...
