Re: Australian Railroad Crossing Signals

I found an image on LXRA’s Facebook of the new flat gates at Evans Road, Lyndhurst: https://www.facebook.com/843601892381164/posts/3155088714565792?d=n&sfns=mo IMO it’s a shame that Metro didn’t use General Signals or WCH gate lights which seem to be standard across the state, I don’t really like th...

Re: Australian Railroad Crossing Signals

Flat gates will be getting trialed at Evens Road in Lyndbrook sometime soon. Will be interesting to see which gate lights are used. 3F472DC1-4090-47BA-BCFD-8345EC20FB87.jpeg 6B26A11E-8B8F-480F-9E8F-0C43301E6CBC.jpeg 25AE4103-1A07-4AF2-B635-EC8D16324E67.jpeg I will go check out the crossing in a few ...

Yea, though you'd have to sink the freeway ramps (farther) and intersecting road in addition to the road for grade-separating the crossing in question.
Why not just raise the tracks over the road?

Re: Australian Railroad Crossing Signals

Sorry for the double post but bad news. A crash has happened at Brunt road officer. 2 cars were on the tracks when the boom gates lowered . Lucky no one was killed but there’s injuries . Unfortunately one of the cars was thrown into one of the gates signals . From pictures it looks like the signal ...

Re: Australian Railroad Crossing Signals

So I found this picture of Station street, Seaford and Seaford station in 1927. Interesting to see that the crossing had 90° North American style crossbucks. You can see the old sidings in the lower left of the image as well, which were then moved to Carrum and now next week will be moved to Kannano...

Re: Australian Railroad Crossing Signals

I wonder if the cost of making wishbone gates has increased, so in the long term Metro could be looking for a cheaper alternative? The flat gates have been used in electrified areas around many other parts of the country for quite some time, so can't really see there being any problems with the tri...

Re: Australian Railroad Crossing Signals

Looks like Metro has approved the use of the flat gates for a trail somewhere on the network. Wonder if it’s on an actual crossing or somewhere in a stabling yard? 3E4F49E8-9104-477B-8E83-B66DF91A0C03.jpeg 801E8E05-38EC-4906-A187-D5AA04C87547.jpeg The trail concludes in early 2020 so I wonder if we’...

Re: Australian Railroad Crossing Signals

Judging by 1:14 in this video, one of the GS type 1 E bells at Kensington may have died, causing the crossing to become silent when the gates have lowered. This is pretty sad imo as this crossing is one of the few crossings around Melbourne which has normal sounding type 1s and not that adjusted cra...
