Not only did the truck open the gate mechanism, it also broke off the counterweights... the can be seen lying on th...

Re: Your favorite covers of songs
Absolutely the best one in my book... Disturbed's cover of The Sound of Silence. Originally done by Simon & Garfunkel. You young ones may have to Google the original version if you have never heard it (man... I'm getting old!) I can listen to this over and over. Funny thing is, I'm not really a heav...

Re: BREAKING NEWS!! Major Amtrak Derailment in Washington!
but I read one report that said the train was doing 81 MPH when it hit that curve. Max track speed is supposed to be 79. From photos I've seen, the speed limit was 30 MPH. Agreed... the speed for the curve should have been 30. It appears at this point the train hit the curve at track speed and didn...

Re: BNSF Bellingham/ Sumas Subdivision Upgrade Thread
Also nearby, what is this supposed to be? It appeared after the new signals were put in. Is it some type of artwork or something? https://goo.gl/maps/QZiLvNvgjqt If I had to take a guess... that is a temporary signal? It appears the road was widened or redesigned recently (with the insta...

It is obviously too early to speculate on what happened... but I read one report that said the train was doing 81 MPH when it hit that curve. Max track speed is supposed to be 79. There is another report saying the train hit something on the track. Thoughts & prayers to the people affected by this i...

From what I understand... the truck stalled in the crossing somehow. The authorities tried to warn CSX but it was not done in enough time.freebrickproductions wrote:Glad to hear no-one was hurt! How much do you want to bet though that a certain someone's gonna blame the accident on the quiet zone?
