Re: New Signals in Illinois.
I went to one of the recent public meetings for starting all the studies to double track the UP corridor between St. Louis and Chicago for higher speed rail. Apparently UP is currently surveying for adding quad gates, possibly in Springfield.

Re: Waste of a good setup...
Did anybody notice the crossing just up the street from that first link? Not sure what the heck that contraption is over the road... or if it is used in conjunction with the crossing signals. http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&geocode=&q=phoenix,+az&sll=37.0625,-95.677068&sspn=34.5876...

Re: Partially Closed Intersection Crossing
That would be a surprise. From the looks they did try to put up adequate warning, but it just didn't work out Closing it was safer. Re: More bad news from Granite City, IL
The four track crossing on 22nd Street between Century Drive and Adams Street was definitely still open.
I haven't heard anything about the crossing further north on 25th Street being closed, but I haven't checked that one in a while.

Re: Update #778
Two things that may be errors, but I'm not entirely sure of: 1) I think BB Road maybe actually be in Columbia instead of Dupo, it's not legible on GSV, but the city limit sign on the outer road for I-255 is north of the crossing: http://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&ie=UTF8&ll=38.486214,-90.220242&spn=...

Now the Holmes Avenue UP crossing has gained a WCH e-bell as a replacement of the SB m-bell.
