Re: Australian Railroad Crossing Signals

Went on an urgent road trip today to record some endangered crossing equipment. First up was the crossing at Rydal which still retains it's GRS/WRRS Type D gate mechanisms https://www.google.com.au/maps/@-33.4818182,150.0325124,3a,75y,140.5h,89.04t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sp-4OXHKD76-j5spp19hBkw!2e0!7i1...

Re: Tracks out of service

Street view from about 10 years ago shows the signals when they were still mostly intact. The lights appear to have been a mixture of 12x20s and 12x24s, nor does there ever appear to have been a bell: https://www.google.com/maps/@34.3225383,-78.7029019,3a,49.8y,173.07h,94.04t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sSG...

Re: Unusual TV Segments

I know this would have been live, but the conversational 1992 Tooheys 1000 (the last held under international Group A regulations) has undoubtedly the most infamous podium presentation in Australian motorsport history. In what was perhaps one of the wettest Bathurst 1000's in history, the #1 Winfiel...

Re: Australian Railroad Crossing Signals

Heard from a friend that last week the crossing at Tanyinna suffered another vehicle strike. This time the western gated signal was knocked down https://www.google.com.au/maps/@-34.7302991,147.8941003,3a,37.5y,44.2h,87.91t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sOSRizNGYjn8qChisVW264Q!2e0!7i13312!8i6656 Don't know if ...

Re: Australian Railroad Crossing Signals

After filming the crossing at Parramatta Rd, Granville, I've discovered some interesting things https://www.google.com.au/maps/@-33.832634,151.0165709,3a,75y,318.5h,92.77t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1shwOfDV-HaukEk1n8uVZyHQ!2e0!7i13312!8i6656 The current gated signals were installed in 2013 when they replac...

Re: Australian Railroad Crossing Signals

Went passed this crossing at Caledonia Rd, Kearsley https://goo.gl/maps/sUnjFJpoFMC2 a couple days ago and to my surprise, the remaining Safetran Type 3 e-bell has bitten the dust and was replaced by a new WCH mechanical bell! The new bell was installed sometime between April 2018 and now. I took a...

Re: Bellingham, WA~ Pedestrian Killed in Train- Human Collis

https://www.bellinghamherald.com/news/local/article222927880.html This happened yesterday at the South Bay Trail pedestrian crossing at Boulevard Park between the "Old Town" and "Fairhaven" districts of Bellingham. Personally, I'm not too surprised that this happened. I was expecting this to happen...

Re: Australian Railroad Crossing Signals

My Dad drove a train through Muswellbrook today and sadly both mechanical bells at Brook St https://goo.gl/maps/Frg4f7mFBoJ2 have been replaced by WCH e-bells. This doesn’t surprise me as ARTC had already replaced most of the m-bells in the area. The MI bell there was also dying. It’s a real shame ...

Re: Australian Railroad Crossing Signals

Well with that loon known as Daniel Andrews being re-elected by the foolish Victorian public, 25 more crossings are now getting the chop, including the four in Pakenham. :Curse1: :Awww: :aaargh:

Re: Update #868

Hey, the counter on the front page is incorrect. It should be in the 6000's range, but since the October update, has been in the 2000's.
