Re: Australian Railroad Crossing Signals
It's nice to see the forum is back in action :TUP1: Thought I'd share a couple of things that some of you may have already heard. Firstly the Wongawilli Coal Mine has been closed again, but this time they're removing some mining equipment so there seems to be little chance of it reopening. https://w...

Re: Australian Railroad Crossing Signals
According to a guy named Victorian Rail Heritage on YouTube, Metro has been replacing the WCH gate mechs with new Siemens ones (source) . Can anyone confirm this? Because it seems odd for Metro to do this, since they only started using them a few years ago. I'm no expert on Melbourne crossings, but...

Re: Australian Railroad Crossing Signals
I also found some articles on the Villawood Level Crossing, which of course has its signals recycled at Bethungra after closure. Articles with pictures of the crossing. https://trove.nla.gov.au/newspaper/article/189520291?searchTerm=Woodville%20Road%20Level%20Crossing&searchLimits=l-decade=196 http...

Re: Australian Railroad Crossing Signals
Been browsing some newspapers on Trove and I found a bunch of articles on the Guildford Level Crossing in Sydney, NSW. https://trove.nla.gov.au/newspaper/article/224504626?searchTerm=Level%20Crossing&searchLimits=l-decade=197 https://trove.nla.gov.au/newspaper/article/224494646?searchTerm=Level%20C...

Re: Australian Railroad Crossing Signals
It's difficult to know for sure, but I suspect that this crossing at Glennies Creek may have a dead Safetran type 3 e-bell on the far signal, the possibly dead bell was only installed last year when it replaced the original WCH m-bell. In this most recent video there doesn't seem to be any variation...

Re: Australian Railroad Crossing Signals
Speaking of which, someone commented on Stuart Hunt's most recent video that the hybrid bells at Hallam have been replaced with e-bells now despite the crossing there being slated for removal! :Curse1: https://www.google.com.au/maps/@-38.018119,145.2707667,3a,41.4y,15.01h,93.82t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1...

Re: Australian Railroad Crossing Signals
(Reposting because this post got eaten by the forum earlier.) There are some interesting crossings between Echuca and Deniliquin, but as usual the images are quite old so they could have been upgraded by now. These two crossings have WCH m-bells which are the older kind without the stepped base. Th...

Re: Australian Railroad Crossing Signals
Found another crossing on the Richmond line in NSW which has been upgraded with new signals and e-bells. This time the Bandon Road crossing at Vineyard is the subject of Sydney Trains m-bell eradication program (which is nearing completion). https://www.google.com.au/maps/@-33.6500744,150.8512711,3a...

First is the Princes Hwy crossing at Heathmere, on the Portland Line https://www.google.com.au/maps/@-38.2199736,141.6213277,3a,75y,324.24h,83.87t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1ss7g-tbs6c6NHJpyJP8vWQQ!2e0!7i13312!8i6656 The document doesn't go into much detail, but considering there is going to be a test engi...
