Re: Can a train move forward too slowly to activate "predictor"?

This is really not a likely scenario, due to the fact that the train, doing a speed slow enough to not activate the preditctor on the approach, will activate the crossing on the island regardless of speed. This will be ample warning time alone, because a train going slow enough to not activate the p...

Re: Rich would be proud!

Very nice! Now all it needs is a GS Type 2 Loud Version there, and I'll love it even more...haha!

I know y'all ain't gonna like that, but I think the loud GS Type 2's sound great.

In fact, I just ordered 10 of them this week. :LOL4:

Re: Whistle markers display

I have one like this. Long, Long, Short, Long...pretty cool indeed. These are found all over Georgia on the old Southern Railway lines, now NS.

Re: Wacky cantilever (sort of) signal

That wouldn't be too hard for me to catch it in action, simply because the fact it's MY CROSSING! Hah, we just aquired a new line, and it includes this crossing! Georgia Southern RR owns it. Just got done inspecting it today. Got pictures, but not of the signals in action. Both bells are dead, but t...

Re: signals in the media

This clip features the railroad I maintain signals on in the movie "Fireproof". GSWR Stands for Georgia Southwestern Railroad. That hy-rail truck they show with the flashing lights is one I see every day at the yard! Too bad I couldn't of seen this take place in 2007. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=...

Re: Double cantilever?

That's what I was going to say. It looked like two cantilevers to me...since the lights didn't line up on the one behind. :LOL4:

Re: Locations Of Currently Existing US&S TEARDROPS

A crossing on the railroad I maintain has one...it's very rusty, and won't come off the top of the pole. That gate mechanism is really rare. It's a WRRS, but was designed by WABCO. http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&geocode=&q=columbus,+ga&sll=37.0625,-95.677068&sspn=39.047881,106.7871...

Yeah, there's alot of old stuff. I'll be getting some pictures soon for y'all to enjoy...stay tuned  "Yall"...? Sounds like you're already a Georgian. Tip: never let them see you putting sugar or other sweetener on your Grits. Salt and Pepper only! Congrats on the great job! Thanks! I ...
