Re: Australian Railroad Crossing Signals
Thanks for sharing the pictures, Chris and Jack. They are a prefect example of why I’m not as big as fan of trains and crossing signals as I used to be. Most of the interesting stuff has either been butchered, replaced, or completely removed by Metro, V/Line, VicRoads, and especially the Victorian G...

Re: Australian Railroad Crossing Signals
I was in Williamstown today and was surprised to see that the Giffard St crossing is currently not-electrified! The original overhead gantry has been entirely replaced, but the new overhead wires have not been installed yet. Here's what the crossing currently looks like: https://live.staticflickr.c...

Re: Australian Railroad Crossing Signals
Even though I live within the general area, I was not aware of this replacement, though that may be in part due to lockdowns. Sadly, that means there's only one mechanical bell left in Pakenham now. Ten years ago, there were no e-bells in Pakenham at all, but sadly, they've now infested the area. Y...

Re: Closed Railroad Crossings that still work
The Cardinia Road level crossing in Pakenham was replaced with an overpass last month, but the signals for the old crossing have remained in operation and still activate for trains. https://www.google.com/maps/@-38.070566,145.4359967,3a,25.3y,199.12h,93.07t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sNAgoXZkT7GPjTMMIj8-2gw...

Re: Australian Railroad Crossing Signals
Great pictures, Chris! Good to see all of that equipment still hold on despite being disused. If those crossings were in Victoria, all of the signals would have been ripped out many years ago by VicRoads because of "safety concerns". On a sad note, the Cardinia Road level crossing was removed earlie...

I'm still waiting for the crossings along the NERR to be added to the site. Will it ever happen?

Re: Australian Railroad Crossing Signals
I'm sad to hear about some of the Teardrop bells being replaced on the Portland line. I really don't like the sound of that. :Awww: Again, it makes me laugh hearing that a crossing only really used by freight trains and The Overland nowdays is being removed because it's "congested and dangerous".
