That isn't a *Buckeye crossbuck setup. Buckeye crossbuck setups were only an Ohio thing, hence why they were called Buckeye. Those shields are just a similar thing that are standard for passive crossings in Idaho.

Although I did once find (on Google streetview) a pair of those shields in Washington for some reason.

Not a defect detector. Defect Detectors are located between and around the rails. Those detectors that you posted are for making sure that the cars on a train should actually be there (IIRC).

It's very much possible that those were imported from Idaho, and it'd make sense considering how close that line is to state lines (not close-close, but close enough :Tongue1: )
