I'm more interested in those classic WRRS signals.NathanFromEngland wrote:Safetran Type 3 in Sanger, California.

Looks like there was a crossing there.NathanFromEngland wrote:Crossbuck on display?

That isn't a *Buckeye crossbuck setup. Buckeye crossbuck setups were only an Ohio thing, hence why they were called Buckeye. Those shields are just a similar thing that are standard for passive crossings in Idaho.NathanFromEngland wrote: Ruined buckseye crossbuck setup.

Although I did once find (on Google streetview) a pair of those shields in Washington for some reason.

Looks like that hasn't been used for decades! Looks like someone is trimming the vegetation at the end of the track!NathanFromEngland wrote: Abandoned tracks.

Although you should've posted that in this thread.

Re: Google Maps Scavenger Hunt
Not a defect detector. Defect Detectors are located between and around the rails. Those detectors that you posted are for making sure that the cars on a train should actually be there (IIRC).NathanFromEngland wrote: Defect detector.

Re: Google Maps Scavenger Hunt
It's very much possible that those were imported from Idaho, and it'd make sense considering how close that line is to state lines (not close-close, but close enough )ToledoRailfan wrote:Although I did once find (on Google streetview) a pair of those shields in Washington for some reason.

Re: Google Maps Scavenger Hunt
I thought about that, they probably came with the crossbuck posts.ZachL wrote:It's very much possible that those were imported from Idaho, and it'd make sense considering how close that line is to state lines (not close-close, but close enough )ToledoRailfan wrote:Although I did once find (on Google streetview) a pair of those shields in Washington for some reason.
