That segment and the video that it talks about is kind of well known.

I drive by this crossing regularly.

It's a entirely new cantilever, some drunk hit the old one back in 2010/2011, oddly enough it sat there non working for a week before being replaced, of course the crossing had to be flagged during this time.

The WCH m-bell still works BTW.

Throughout the telecast of the Kooyong Classic down here in Australia, you can often hear the nearby Glenferrie Road Level Crossing active in the background. This is due to the courts being located directly next to the crossing.

One instance of this is at 15:39.

I wonder if they commentated on what that noise was.

Very similar to the Seattle Mariners. When they play at home, you often hear train horns because Safeco Field is right next to several rail lines.
Railfanning since December 28, 2009!

This Australian ad for AAMI Insurance features an old 'Rail Crossing' sign, but you can't see the actual crossing it's suppose to alert drivers of...

Found this railroad crossing safety film, loads of vintage equipment here. I also like the model scenes, lots of work must have gone into them.

Apparently the 2000 movie, Beethoven's 3rd, features a scene involving a rideable model railroad. In one of the scenes, a gateless 8 inch signal with a mechanical bell and "1 Track" signs can be seen.
