Looks like those bells must be Barker Technic E-Bells!TrickyMario7654 wrote:I've seen a few bits of the 1999 Australian film "The Wog Boy", and a suburban Melbourne level crossing is been briefly seen in the movie.
There's a Yarraville station sign near the crossing (I know it's hard to see since the photo I took was blurry), so that means the crossing seen is Anderson Street, Yarraville.
Here's the crossing today. Hardly anything has changed since 1999!

They are. As I've mentioned in the post, the crossing has pretty much remained the same over the past 18 years.NathanFromEngland wrote:Looks like those bells must be Barker Technic E-Bells!TrickyMario7654 wrote:I've seen a few bits of the 1999 Australian film "The Wog Boy", and a suburban Melbourne level crossing is been briefly seen in the movie.

Re: signals in the media
Theres an episode from Rescue 911 from the early 1990's that shows two runaway boxcars that involve a railway crossing in some parts of the episode.
I'm not going to reveal too much otherwise i'm spoiling it for any people that are interested into watching the part of the episode.

That was one of my favorite shows back in the day. There are several train related episodes out there on YouTube. It's funny... I remember watching the original episodes on CBS when they were new (sometimes had to set the old VCR to record them)!NathanFromEngland wrote:Theres an episode from Rescue 911 from the early 1990's that shows two runaway boxcars that involve a railway crossing in some parts of the episode.

Watching them now they look so "old". The editing in some of those is sub-par at best.

Episode 175 of the Australian TV Series "Homicide" featured the Tooronga Road Level Crossing, located in Malvern, VIC.
I love the sound of those old Teardrop bells.
Here's the crossing today and yes, those are the same signals seen in the clip (some of the SORS signs are original too).

Sadly, the Teardrop bells had been replaced years ago (likely with hybrid bells, which were replaced with e-bells between 2007-2009).

The crossing also got an LED upgrade in recent years. Here's the crossing with the original McK&H lights in 2013.

But, I'm pretty sure this crossing retains it's original gate mechs (WRRS).

I actually wonder why somebody would actually use a video editor on a 50 second video looped.TrickyMario7654 wrote:Episode 175 of the Australian TV Series "Homicide" featured the Tooronga Road Level Crossing, located in Malvern, VIC.

At the beginning of the 1980 film "Caddyshack", there's a four-way intersection crossing which has a signal with a WRRS gate mech, wishbone gate, and 8-inch lights.

Re: signals in the media
I saw a Powerade commercial earlier while in my hotel room on TV that shows a railroad crossing in one scene. However the shot is relatively far and its hard to see the signals due to the shot being taken sometime late at night. Its not hard to see the RXR marking though. When i find the commercial, I'll post the ad link.
Re: signals in the media
I forgot about that one! It's been a long time since I have seen that movie. I found a pirated copy of it on Youtube. Here is a still with the signal in it.TrickyMario7654 wrote:At the beginning of the 1980 film "Caddyshack", there's a four-way intersection crossing which has a signal with a WRRS gate mech, wishbone gate, and 8-inch lights.
According to a website about the movie, the crossing still exists, it is in South Pasadena at the corner of Merdian and Mission St.
