Re: Tracks out of service
I wonder when that line went out of service, because as recent as May 2012, the gates to that third crossing were still attached to the signals, and the crossing still had power to it.freebrickproductions wrote:Former CSX line, used to be owned by L&N:

Re: Tracks out of service
The line further to the west was turned into a rail-trail in 1986, so the last customer on the line along the portion that I posted probably stopped shipping by rail.ZachL wrote:I wonder when that line went out of service, because as recent as May 2012, the gates to that third crossing were still attached to the signals, and the crossing still had power to it.freebrickproductions wrote:Former CSX line, used to be owned by L&N:

Re: Tracks out of service
Nah, the line had to close after that, because e-bells didn't become common until the early 2000's, and those signals look like they're about 10 years old

Re: Tracks out of service
I said that the portion of the line that wasn't turned into the trail remained active until the last shipper along the line stopped shipments via rail. Basically. the line was abandoned, but CSX kept a portion active because they still had a customer who was shipping by rail until they stopped. Probably because they got a better deal from a trucking company, the company folded, or they just closed that location.YoshiDino90 wrote:Nah, the line had to close after that, because e-bells didn't become common until the early 2000's, and those signals look like they're about 10 years old
