Nice find!brett nc railfanner wrote:https://www.google.com/maps/@36.3177416 ... i13312!8i6
Pretty cool that they preserved those classic signals in their original location! At least I assume that is their original location!
Re: Tracks out of service
Makes me wonder how long those are going to stick around! All traces of the railroad right there have been converted to rail-trail at this point.brett nc railfanner wrote:https://www.google.com/maps/@36.3177416 ... i13312!8i6
Crossing pictures from Plant City, FL are finally here! viewtopic.php?f=13&t=2538
Re: Tracks out of service
They more than likely are. It's not often that you see signals get moved around without being repainted and/or restored.ToledoRailfan wrote:Pretty cool that they preserved those classic signals in their original location! At least I assume that is their original location!

Re: Tracks out of service
It looks like they intentionally left them there, just like that one rails-to-trails crossing in Maryland with the inverted crossbucks and those ones somewhere in Florida.ZachL wrote:Makes me wonder how long those are going to stick around! Re: Tracks out of service
Probably the only change that they made was moving the signals to the same side of the crossing, unless that road use to be a one-way road.ZachL wrote:They more than likely are. The signals look to be of NC&StL heritage as well, as they appear to be using US&S equipment except for the bell.
They/Them for me, please.

The L&N did it a lot on their crossbuck crossings. Here's just a few examples here in Alabama and up in Tennessee:ToledoRailfan wrote:I love the split crossbuck! I'm not sure if that is common in Tennessee.brett nc railfanner wrote:https://www.google.com/maps/@36.2044618 ... 312!8i6656
Almost looks like a rails-to-trails there, very dense forest.

Though sadly, CSX and other railroads have replaced a lot of them, so they're uncommon to somewhat rare down here now. What's really rare though is a split crossbuck on a signal, such as these:

Though a few signals still retain the mounts for split crossbucks:
