Laconia, New Hampshire. Looks like this crossing had gates at one point!

Metro, why do you keep removing Mechanical bells?!

That's very likely an out-of-service crossing.TrickyMario7654 wrote:Laconia, New Hampshire. Looks like this crossing had gates at one point!

I think those may have been posted here before, I know I've seen them on streetview.ZachL wrote:That's very likely an out-of-service crossing.TrickyMario7654 wrote:Laconia, New Hampshire. Looks like this crossing had gates at one point!

By the way, rusty rails pretty much confirm that it's not in service.

Re: Bell only crossings
Oddly enough, all of the surrounding crossings have pretty modern equipment and retain their lights (which are all 12x24 inch LEDs):ZachL wrote:Yeah, I think so.ToledoRailfan wrote:I think those may have been posted here before, I know I've seen them on streetview.ZachL wrote:That's very likely an out-of-service crossing.TrickyMario7654 wrote:Laconia, New Hampshire. Rails look shinier as well:

In fact, blue DOT tags have also been added to some of the crossings, such as this one for example:
2013:
https://www.google.com.au/maps/@43.5237 ... 312!8i6656
2015:
https://www.google.com.au/maps/@43.5237 ... 312!8i6656
2016:

There are also three bells at the crossing with the gate mechanisms, so it's possible that it only operates as a bell only set-up, as the line is some kind of museum/tourist line that only sees the occasional train through there.
They/Them for me, please.
