Re: Bell only crossings
One problem,I live in Pine Bluff, not Little Rock.So I won't know what they are going to do with the old crossbuck.SouthernPacificLines wrote:If they take the other one down you should see if they'll give you the old E-Bell LOL!legsbluetrain wrote:I don't know,I'll have to wait until the installation is complete.SouthernPacificLines wrote:Do you know if they are going to be leaving both signals and bells up?legsbluetrain wrote:I just took these today.I got a photo of the other mast.

I love it. Normal size relay box just for that one little bell:CIC755 wrote:Found one in Murrayville, IL:

Is it really worth putting all that in just for a bell? Obviously they save money by not having to purchase the masts and light heads, but they still have to put in all the detection equipment that would normally be needed for the lights don't they?
Re: Bell only crossings
Probably a standardized box size.. As far as the cost of masts and the like, they're just about 25% of the cost. Labor adds a whole bunch to the total. If the RR can legally add a bit of warning to an out of the way crossing on a barely used line...that beats the cost of going full up.
If that was in California, it would be gated with 12X24's for sure.

Re: Bell only crossings
From the Illinois crossing inventory, the bell position has been modified:
