I've always wondered what is the oldest operating non-wigwag active crossing in the U.S.?

Likely one situated on a barely used Class 3 railroad in the midwest somewhere.

Don't really see how the wealth or lack of wealth of the state has anything to do with something installed, maintained and operated by a private company that has it's own bank account...

I bet this signal was before it was removed in 2009.

Their exact location escapes me at the moment, but I believe somewhere in the UP of Michigan there is a crossing with two ancient background-less mast signals on concrete median islands. These would be a good candidate, as would any of the few Griswold rotating stop sign signals still standing.

There are actually a few more of those cantilevers around Saginaw that I never knew existed until about 1-2 years ago.

Well the roads sure suck over there in Mississippi L.E.D.s are very new,
crossing signals are the same way lots of old equipment was used until hurricane Katrina anyways.
