Taking a wild guess out of the park here, i think that could be a RRS bell that has corroded over the years, and lost the rain shield.ToledoRailfan wrote:Not sure if I'm still a little drunk or if that is a very odd looking bell in Newark,Ohio.

Some kind of alarm? I know Queensland doesn't use bells, and I want to say they do use alarms.NathanFromEngland wrote: ...What could this be?

Re: Google Maps Scavenger Hunt
That is a junction box on top of the mast, they are normally used with traffic lights. The grey part is the protective sheath which lifts off, and the terminals are underneath. I think it is there for this alarm speaker, you can just make out the wires running down to it https://www.google.com/maps/@-19.265212 ... 312!8i6656freebrickproductions wrote:Some kind of alarm? You are correct in saying that Queensland uses alarms, for pedestrians only.

Active crossing

Early GS Type 1
https://www.google.com/maps/@38.2288082 ... 312!8i6656
Unfortunately, it's since been replaced by a WCH mechanical bell.
