That's not the relay case. It's probably a box to keep all the wiring from being exposed to the elements.NathanFromEngland wrote: ↑Mon May 20, 2019 2:20 pmI've never seen a relay case attached to a signal before, the bracket is also very strange...

Re: Google Maps Scavenger Hunt
That crossing there is pretty nice, IMHO. The bracket was an old WRRS/GRS product, I believe.NathanFromEngland wrote: ↑Mon May 20, 2019 2:20 pmI've never seen a relay case attached to a signal before, the bracket is also very strange...

Woodings Railcar it looks like. Interesting seeing that on a US crossing, as, IIRC, the company is/was Canadian!NathanFromEngland wrote: ↑Mon May 20, 2019 2:20 pmWhat company is this?

Thinking of the company now makes me think that they just manufactured railcars...freebrickproductions wrote:Woodings Railcar it looks like. Interesting seeing that on a US crossing, as, IIRC, the company is/was Canadian!

Re: Google Maps Scavenger Hunt
Yeah, I like that way too. It does make me wonder why NS has been closing off crossings along this line... probably because of how busy the roads are and how many trains this line sees.ZachL wrote: ↑Fri May 24, 2019 1:40 pmOh wow, that actually looks pretty the way they did that bridge.Ethan the Railfanner wrote: ↑Fri May 24, 2019 10:15 amActive NS crossing in Charlotte, NC that is now closed:

Also less maintenance on NS's part, given how NC requires all crossing Amtrak runs through to be quad-gated.Ethan the Railfanner wrote: ↑Fri May 24, 2019 4:23 pmYeah, I like that way too. Re: Google Maps Scavenger Hunt
Why is that? Have there been enough accidents to require it, or does Amtrak go faster through the state?freebrickproductions wrote: ↑Sat May 25, 2019 2:15 amAlso less maintenance on NS's part, given how NC requires all crossing Amtrak runs through to be quad-gated.

Not entirely sure, all that I know is that it's just required.ZachL wrote: ↑Sat May 25, 2019 9:00 amWhy is that?
