https://www.google.com/maps/@37.0840275 ... authuser=0
There used to be a second one at this crossing, but it sadly got replaced with a newer wch gate mechanism

Re: Google Maps Scavenger Hunt
Judging by the corrosion on that EM gate, it could be at risk of replacement.Nascar Fan007 wrote: ↑Wed Dec 18, 2019 8:57 amFound a rare EM gate mechanism in Joplin, MO

Active crossing in Brandon, MS.

Look's like street view was blocked here by this stopped train!
https://www.google.com/maps/@32.2916452 ... 328!8i1664
I wonder what could've been here? Can't imagine it being some sort of train station.

Not sure if these are GE E-Bells or WCH E-Bells.
https://www.google.com/maps/@32.2931656 ... 312!8i6656
Incomplete crossing. Can't imagine if this is acting as gateless (with the signal active with gate mechs not) or if just protected by signage.

I wasn't aware backpanels were metal, i thought they were some sort of plastic, it's rather confusing seeing corrosion for lightheads that seem to be less/more than 10 years old.

Proud owner of a Safetran 3rd Gen M-Bell, a GS Type 2 bell, a dead GS type 1 bell, a WRRS M-bell, and a US&S H-2 searchlight signal.
Why does everyone copy my signature?
OG signal collection signature, I think.

It's probably still there, considering the fact that appears to be a shortline.NathanFromEngland wrote: ↑Wed Dec 18, 2019 1:28 pmJudging by the corrosion on that EM gate, it could be at risk of replacement.Nascar Fan007 wrote: ↑Wed Dec 18, 2019 8:57 amFound a rare EM gate mechanism in Joplin, MO

Looks like a KCS line, so those are almost undoubtedly GE.NathanFromEngland wrote: ↑Wed Dec 18, 2019 1:28 pmNot sure if these are GE E-Bells or WCH E-Bells.

Some are metal, some are plastic, at least when it comes to Safetran lights like that. Mainly depends on what the railroad wants.NathanFromEngland wrote: ↑Wed Dec 18, 2019 1:28 pmI wasn't aware backpanels were metal, i thought they were some sort of plastic, it's rather confusing seeing corrosion for lightheads that seem to be less/more than 10 years old.

Re: Google Maps Scavenger Hunt
What is this thing? I recall asking about it in 2017-2018, isn't this supposed to be an E-Switch or something, and more importantly what's the need for the LED signal? That wasn't there when it was a manually operated switch.

CSX Maintenance truck lacking a Florida license plate for the front, not sure if it's a requirement as if i recall i think states have certain laws regarding front/rear license plates.

Damaged signal, quite amazing to see how the Safetran type 2 managed to cling on!
https://www.google.com/maps/@27.9436033 ... 312!8i6656
The signal has not been realigned, but the bell was replaced as it was too damaged to repair.

This signal for the side street with the GS E-Bell reminds me slightly of Dutch crossings.

Wishbone pedestrian gate! Too bad it's been replaced now.
