Re: Google Maps Scavenger Hunt
Active crossing in Monroe, NC. (The WCH bell is facing the incorrect way)
https://www.google.com/maps/@34.957981, ... 6656?hl=en
Another active crossing not too far away with some early CSX signals.
https://www.google.com/maps/@34.9664115 ... 6656?hl=en
Damaged signal, the signals are also run down IMO.

It's not all that uncommon to see bells turned like that, tbhNathanFromEngland wrote:Active crossing in Monroe, NC. (The WCH bell is facing the incorrect way)

Re: Google Maps Scavenger Hunt
To me it actually seems more natural to have the rain shield side of the M-bell facing forward (same direction as the crossbuck, lights for approaching traffic, etc) than sideways. Both are pretty common, though.ZachL wrote:It's not all that uncommon to see bells turned like that, tbhNathanFromEngland wrote:Active crossing in Monroe, NC. Re: Google Maps Scavenger Hunt
CFCR decided to keep the Safetran Type 3 from the Landstreet Road crossing.

The Safetran Type 2 on the other side was not so lucky however.

Why replace what's not broken if it's not out-of-date and still works?NathanFromEngland wrote:CFCR decided to keep the Safetran Type 3 from the Landstreet Road crossing.

Yes, but the road literally dead ends soon after the crossing.ZachL wrote:Ever heard of a crossing upgrade, dude?
I also mistakenly thought in one frame that they were 8 inch lights with 12x24 shades.
Re: Google Maps Scavenger Hunt
Your point? A lot of roads have railroad crossings feet before they end. Hell, even many home driveways have their own railroad crossings, too...NathanFromEngland wrote:Yes, but the road literally dead ends soon after the crossing.ZachL wrote:Ever heard of a crossing upgrade, dude?
