-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Does anybody know when Crossing Flashers stopped being installed in road centers? This seems to be the norm for signals installed pre-1950.ZachL wrote:Seymour has a lot of classic stuff!NathanFromEngland wrote:Signals on concrete bases!

Re: Google Maps Scavenger Hunt
This setup in Lucas, Ohio is pretty dumb. The street to the left is protected just by signal on the other side of the crossing.

It also depended on the railroad. Don't believe the SOU, L&N, or NC&StL ever installed signals in the middle of the road unless it was a divided highway.ToledoRailfan wrote:If I had to guess I would say in the 40s.MapsSurfer wrote:Does anybody know when the practice of placing the Flashers in the center of the road ended? This railroad crossing in Windsor, Ontario right where the access road to the Ambassador Bridge and a local traffic road split from each other. I wonder how backed up the traffic becomes for the border when there is a train?
