A lot of manual crossings in the UK and Ireland that have gate lights have them on 24/7, IIRC.

Most Irish crossings are manual.

Hey look! An Irish crossing that isn't manually controlled! Kinda cool seeing a country that uses their own "type" of crossing that is kinda the same "type" as British crossings (there has to be a better way to explain that).

I assume that this signal somewhere in County Limerick activates when the crossing down the road is active. I'd also assume the lights are amber and not red.
