Re: Google Maps Scavenger Hunt
Here's an interesting signal on the RJ Corman Memphis Line (which doesn't actually reach Memphis, TN):
https://www.google.com/maps/@36.8492572 ... 312!8i6656
The crossing as a whole is a bit interesting as it features a pair of 5 inch masts despite being gateless. Maybe the L&N had originally installed gates here?
An early General Signals e-bell!
https://www.google.com/maps/@36.821233, ... 312!8i6656
Wonder if it still works?
Some old Transport Products Corp. signals from the L&N here, though only the masts, bell (maybe), one base, and junction boxes are original to them it appears:
https://www.google.com/maps/@36.8615503 ... 312!8i6656
Another early GSI e-bell!
https://www.google.com/maps/@36.9102078 ... 328!8i1664
Classic signals:

Old L&N install with newer gate mechs:

Another classic L&N install that appears to be almost entirely original:

More old L&N equipment:

A bit of an interesting way to aim the lights here:
https://www.google.com/maps/@36.9944425 ... 312!8i6656
Looks like this used to be a gated two-way set-up:

Also, the bell is mounted on the relay case:
https://www.google.com/maps/@36.9960684 ... 312!8i6656
But used to be on one of the signals:

Active crossing in Martinsburg, West Virginia.
https://www.google.nl/maps/@39.443376,- ... !8i6656?hl
I haven't got a clue why these SORS signs are placed on both sides of the crossing.
https://www.google.nl/maps/@39.4525786, ... !8i6656?hl
I like these light extensions!

Weird countergate arms.
https://www.google.nl/maps/@39.5503208, ... !8i6656?hl

Funnily enough, this road is named CSX Trail (Below overpass)

It's an abbreviation of General Signals Inc, which is the full name of General Signals.NathanFromEngland wrote:I've heard of General Signals, but what on earth is GSI?freebrickproductions wrote:Another early GSI e-bell!

Harmon/Modern Industries counterweight arms, from the looks of it.NathanFromEngland wrote: Weird countergate arms.

Done due to the building being in front of the signal, it appears.NathanFromEngland wrote: This looks weird.

Re: Google Maps Scavenger Hunt
Vandal-guards on all the lights at this crossing!
https://www.google.com/maps/@33.4726454 ... 312!8i6656
https://www.google.com/maps/@33.4725245 ... 312!8i6656
Old SAL install too!
Split crossbuck!
https://www.google.com/maps/@33.4713069 ... 312!8i6656
Another old SAL install here with some more vandal-guards!

https://www.google.com/maps/@33.4777129 ... 312!8i6656
Also, for some reason, there's an extra gateless signal here as well:
https://www.google.com/maps/@33.4776008 ... 312!8i6656
Used to have a mechanical bell as well though:
https://www.google.com/maps/@33.4775828 ... 312!8i6656
Wonder how the bells operate?

Re: Google Maps Scavenger Hunt
I assumed that they're for this road even though it looks like they'd be hard to see. They probably should just move that signal to be next to that road and maybe add a gate as anyone on that road has to cross over the crossing regardless of which direction they are going to turn on the main road. https://www.google.com/maps/@33.4775673 ... 312!8i6656ZachL wrote:Maybe they're supposed to serve this?freebrickproductions wrote:Also, for some reason, there's an extra gateless signal here as well:
