It's also missing the "G" on the crossbuck there:

Nah, that's just a southern thing. Yer at the railroad crossin'

Active crossing in Geleen-Lutterade, Limburg. (Mechanical bells have since been replaced)

The other crossing there can be seen in action as well:
https://www.google.com/maps/@50.9754837 ... 312!8i6656

Also, here's an unusual crossing in Commerce, GA:
https://www.google.com/maps/@34.2050945 ... 312!8i6656
https://www.google.com/maps/@34.2053604 ... 312!8i6656
https://www.google.com/maps/@34.2052551 ... a=!3m1!1e3
Kinda surprised that NS hasn't bothered to move the crossbucks to the "correct" side of the street. Though I'm guessing that's due to visibility reasons...

There are others like it elsewhere in the town:
https://www.google.com/maps/@34.2026791 ... 312!8i6656

https://www.google.com/maps/@34.2009184 ... 312!8i6656

https://www.google.com/maps/@34.1961164 ... 312!8i6656

It appears that the above are due to the two streets forming a one-way pair, and pretty-much acting as one road. However, the two become a pair of two-way roads a bit to the east, leading to another somewhat unusual crossing (and intersection, for that matter):
https://www.google.com/maps/@34.1906632 ... 312!8i6656
https://www.google.com/maps/@34.1905953 ... 312!8i6656
https://www.google.com/maps/@34.1901992 ... 312!8i6656
https://www.google.com/maps/@34.1904371 ... a=!3m1!1e3

Here's a nice 1970s SOU install:
https://www.google.com/maps/@34.1738084 ... 312!8i6656

Another one further down the line:
https://www.google.com/maps/@34.0519714 ... 312!8i6656

This one had the bell replaced with a WCH mechanical:
https://www.google.com/maps/@34.0223755 ... 312!8i6656

Leaning e-bell:
https://www.google.com/maps/@33.940813, ... 312!8i6656
The crossing is also otherwise all-SOU, though with an LED upgrade to the overhead lights:
https://www.google.com/maps/@33.940854, ... 312!8i6656
Here's how it looked prior to any upgrades:
https://www.google.com/maps/@33.9408089 ... 312!8i6656

Some more old SOU equipment:
https://www.google.com/maps/@33.8987316 ... 312!8i6656

Some classic WRRS signals from the Central of Georgia:
https://www.google.com/maps/@33.8600617 ... 312!8i6656
Sadly, they likely don't see much use due to the cars being stored around them.

Seems that this signal isn't a stranger to being hit:
https://www.google.com/maps/@33.8577255 ... 328!8i1664
https://www.google.com/maps/@33.8576979 ... 312!8i6656
https://www.google.com/maps/@33.8576966 ... 312!8i6656

Another nice SOU install:
https://www.google.com/maps/@33.8543649 ... 312!8i6656

The line goes out of service for a while, but when it does come back into service, there's another old SOU install (though this time with an e-bell):
https://www.google.com/maps/@33.6165209 ... 312!8i6656

Here's a very long crossing:
https://www.google.com/maps/@33.6058516 ... 312!8i6656
https://www.google.com/maps/@33.6050868 ... 312!8i6656
There's also a CSX install, likely from about the same time, about halfway through the crossing:
https://www.google.com/maps/@33.6053961 ... 312!8i6656
And in action:
https://www.google.com/maps/@33.605138, ... 312!8i6656
This van and car "disappear into thin air" when moving one step back from the crossing, which makes me think it was malfunctioning:
https://www.google.com/maps/@33.605138, ... 312!8i6656
https://www.google.com/maps/@33.6050457 ... 312!8i6656

Here's an earlier mid-1990s NS install (prior to the swap to 12x20s on new installs in the mid-1990s) that looks like it hasn't seen any fresh paint on the lights since it was installed:
https://www.google.com/maps/@33.5813982 ... 312!8i6656
They/Them for me, please.

That is the most sophisticated u-turn median I have ever seen.

It appears that the crossing's now gone though, having been replaced by an overpass just east of it.
Just from looking at that, this was probably done by a maintainer who was hired after CSX started placing bells midway down the mast.

So that's where that thing is. Maybe I should go there and wave the next time I am up there. :Tongue1:
