Corrigan Road is now gone? Why Daniel Andrews, WHY?
You can now add Skye/Overton Road Frankston to list list of removed crossings (the twentieth crossing to be removed).
The boom gates were dismantled last night, but the sky rail hasn’t even been built yet, just the foundations have so the roads going to remain closed until early June...
Does that road get a lot of traffic? Because if so, it's gonna pile a ton of traffic onto other streets and crossings (as make those crossings "very dangerous").
Yes it’s an extremely busy crossing... one of the worst in the entire state imo. There’s a freeway interchange about 100m from the crossing, and 5 roads all intersect at this crossing with one being a highway (Dandenong Valley Highway aka Frankston-Dandenong Road). Sometimes turning right across the crossing from the freeway interchange to the beach/mall side of the crossing could take over 15 minutes BEFORE any removal work had begun. I’ve just totally avoided the area since the removal process started because of all the traffic.
EDIT: I forgot to mention that both roads either side of this crossing got grade separation in the 80s so all the traffic is just diverted onto those roads instead of Seaford Road (which is also another terribly congested crossing, I once had to wait for 5 trains to go past here a few years ago). I avoide this crossing as much as possible as well.

Metro, why are you so bad at maintaining your railway crossings??

The nearby signalized crossings near my area (A long drive away!) are all located in residential areas. https://www.google.com/maps/@53.6410996 ... 077,15.86z
Network Rail aren't considering removing the crossings, mainly as it'll take too much work to do all of them.
Found a crossing somewhere in Melbourne while watching an episode of Fast Forward from 1990. The crossing has two teardrop bells and black & white wishbone gates and features twice during the episode, first at 13:20 and again at 17:19. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VfxDk-jSI0Y&t=807s

That’s Grange Road, Carnegie (which is soon to be removed via Skyrail). Nice find there!
One of the Teardrop bells there survived until at least 2013, where it was replaced by a hybrid bell...
Metro, why do you keep removing Mechanical bells?!

Thanks for finding the location, it was an awesome crossing back then, and still is quite nice. It's amazing that the hybrid bells lasted, but doesn't make any difference now with skyfail wrecking it.

It’s quite easy finding out what crossing it was as hardly any Melbourne crossing looks alike and the fact that hardly any major changes have been made between 1990 and now (asides from the Skyrail works).
I also love the old V/Line livery on the train there, certainly my favourite one...

Yep the old livery is cool, don't know why they keep changing it all the time. Probably just somebody justifying their job by trying to re-invent the wheel (and wasting lots of $$$$).

I think they changed it when they privitazed the Victorian rail network in the mid to late 1990’s. The orange one remained with V/line Freight while a red and blue one was introduced for passanger services. Eventually, V/line’s freight operations were taken over by various companies.
Also, one of the signals from Grange Road is my current profile icon...

I recall seeing a more recent picture of the crossing on Flickr, showing that the hybrid bells have been replaced by Safetran Type 3's and the lights upgraded to LED, but the wishbone gates somehow survived the upgrades.
