Railroad Crossing Historical Analysis Archive
Hello folks! I had this idea the other day for a thread and when It came to me I felt as I hit the jackpot! So this thread here I bring you all today serves as a way for users to be able to locate their railroad crossing and find historical context on it. It is with further more joy that I will try to travel the USA in order to be able to find more grade crossings as I can so I can to create historical analysis on them. Now if any of you guys wish to post and contribute to this project that is A okay!
Now the way this works is, I will always post a picture of the crossing that I am going to document. Then I will provide a link to the Location of the Grade Crossing so it can be viewed. Then the final step is that I will always provide a link to the FRA Database of the crossing so accident reports and crossing inventory sheets of the crossing can be viewed. I will Always provide the Crossing DOT Number so you can recieve the PDF documents at that Page
So lets get started! The first crossing I am going to document is the one closest to where I live. Here is the Main St. Crossing in Frisco, TX. Below is a picture of the crossing in 2016.
FRA Link: http://safetydata.fra.dot.gov/officeofs ... ssing.aspx
DOT Number:672132P
Google maps link as of 2013:
https://www.google.com/maps/@33.1524387 ... 312!8i6656
Fellow members, always feel free to participate and document crossings!

Reason: Adding a space between "FRA Link:" and the link so the link actually works.

That's a neat one! Love the signals (and the Harmon crossbucks that are on them now)NSrailfan4life wrote:A Abondoned KCS Spur in Plano, TX

Re: Railroad Crossing Historical Analysis Archive
Let's see if I can do this right...
--------------------------------------------------------------------
My biggest documentation project has been Hauck Rd in Sharonville, OH. A signal upgrade began in February 2015. Below is my Flickr album with plenty of before & after shots:
https://www.flickr.com/photos/busman_49 ... 833055296/
PUCO inventory link: http://gradecrossings.puco.ohio.gov/ite ... 1&Reason=2
DOT number: 524707D
--------------------------------------------------------------------
A minor project of mine was to document a crossing not far from where I lived once upon a time. My earliest memory of the crossing is a PRR-style crossbuck on the westbound approach and a standard crossbuck for eastbound traffic. Those were gone in the early 80s (when I was 4 or 5, I'm sure) to be replaced by standard crossbucks on a brown wooden post. Those were removed in 1989 in favor of gated signals. Then in December 2013, the crossing was closed and the signals removed. My flickr album:

PUCO inventory link: http://gradecrossings.puco.ohio.gov/ite ... &PosXing=1
