A pole as in like a signal mast? Because, yes, many do at various crossings around the US, usually where they were downgraded from signals.NSrailfan4life wrote:Does such thing exist? Just Curious?

Well, yeah.
I just loved how they fit the wood posts into the old signal bases.

Re: Crossbuck only on pole setups.
Here are a couple of crossings here in Huntsville, AL that were downgraded from signals to crossbucks, and at least one of the old masts remained (note: the bell at the first crossing is disconnected):

And here's one up in Chattanooga, TN:

This crossing on the Heart of Dixie Railroad Museum's line near Calera, AL also appears to have originally been a pair of signals as well:

Found this crossing at Nyora, Victoria, Australia. Originally this had a fully active setup, but was downgraded to signs in the late 90's or early 2000's:

Also, as a bonus find, further up the line...a Mk&H Teardrop Bell!:

Re: Crossbuck only on pole setups.
According in Vicsig, the crossing was downgraded when the line closed to regular traffic and the line was transferred to the SGR.chris96 wrote:Found this crossing at Nyora, Victoria, Australia. Originally this had a fully active setup, but was downgraded to signs in the late 90's or early 2000's:

Another bonus, remains of an old V/Line station sign!

Other signals/crossing on the line beyond Nyora.
Passive crossing.

Weird private crossing with only crossbuck signs.

Crossing with a Westinghouse Hybrid bell.

More passive crossings.

Another crossing with a McK&H teardrop bell.

Oddly, they also have this passive crossing signage for some reason, even though there's active protection at the crossing!

Another McK&H bell!

Metro, why do you keep removing Mechanical bells?!

Re: Crossbuck only on pole setups.
About a block away from the busy Canal St. crossing I posted in the Safetran hybrid thread is this crossing which, as has been suggested, is downgraded. Incidentally, it's kind of a famous siding as it leads up to the historic CNW bascule bridge crossing the river. Trains no longer pass through but UP reportedly lowers the bridge once a year so its status remains active.
