EM gate bites the dust

Post by cabman701 » Wed Jul 05, 2017 4:08 pm

I didn't post this in the Grade Crossing Accident thread because it didn't involve a train.

Not sure how long the story will be available, so here are some photos from the news website:

If I had to guess, that signal is probably totaled. All thanks to a drunk driver it appears.

Darn. At least EM gates aren't that uncommon in California. I hope that the driver is alright.

Kind of odd that the crossing marker there was put in the middle of the road.

Probably has to do with the crossing being close to the intersection.

Damn, that crossing is just about two hours up the road from me, I've seen it before.

There's actually a small chance that it'll just be replaced with another EM mec, as of 2010 (last time I was up there) SMVRR had a big pile of EM mecs at their yard/office, and they are kind of a small short line so they're known for reusing crossing equipment.
