Safetran (Siemens) in Vietnam

Post by MapsSurfer » Sun Jul 21, 2019 11:24 am

It seems like the Vietnamese State Railway has been upgrading many Railroad Crossings in Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon).
Some of these have been upgraded with Italian and Chinese Systems, but alot of them have had Siemens Gate Mechanisms installed, although the Gates are still labeled with the Safetran Logo.

Since there's no official Street View coverage in Vietnam, here's a video of one of these Crossings in action.

Interesting, i don't know if they could be second hand though.

I know that Safetran gate mechanisms have also been used in Greece.

On the topic of Greek railroad crossings, WABCO gate mechanisms plus teardrop bells have been used.
(WABCO mechs)

AZD equipment has also been used in Greece

WABCO Systems are widely used across Older Lines in Greece.

Polish Systems have also been used in some places in Greece as well, especially on more Modern Lines.

Slight Digression.
While I was writing starting thread on Safetran in Vietnam, I ran across this interesting setup in Malaysia that is kinda related.

It seems like the Port of Butterworth contracted Safetran Systems to equip the port with Lights and Gate Mechanisms.
I've been able to count 7 total Gate Mechanisms! :WOOT:

Interestingly enough, Safetran is not used anywhere else in the country except for here.
All other Crossings in Malaysia use older Japanese Systems, mainly from the Kyosan Electric Signal Co.

Back to Vietnam now.
I was able to find some amateur Street View coverage by an independent company.
Most of the Safetran Systems that can be found are in the Capitol City of Hanoi. According to the captures, these Signals were installed sometime in either 2017 or 2018.
Here's an example to demonstrate. Excuse the rather poor quality.
