Israeli Railroad Crossings

Post by MapsSurfer » Sat May 16, 2020 7:22 pm

So here I will document, to the best of my ability, every railroad crossing that can be viewed on Google Maps.
I will begin at the North making my way south to the southernmost station. The Israeli Rail Network is very extensive, so I might need to update a few things in case I miss something.

So I begin here at the former northernmost crossing in Israel, the railway used to go up through Lebanon, Syria and into Turkey, connecting the middle east with Europe and Asia. Unfortunately this connection has been severed due to the fragile political situation here.
This is what remains of the crossing.

Here the railroad crosses the same highway a little farther south.
https://www.google.com/maps/@33.048556, ... 312!8i6656

Now here's an interesting section, the tracks are actually still in place from here. I bet it'd be an awesome thing to go and explore in person.
https://www.google.com/maps/@33.0434339 ... 312!8i6656

Here's another rural crossing.
https://www.google.com/maps/@33.0416508 ... 312!8i6656

And another.
https://www.google.com/maps/@33.0269316 ... 312!8i6656

and another....
https://www.google.com/maps/@33.0177901 ... 312!8i6656

Oddly enough, this crossing had it's tracks removed.
https://www.google.com/maps/@33.008809, ... 312!8i6656

Finally, here's where the abandoned line meets the existing railway. This is the northernmost currently active station in Israel at Nahariyya.
https://www.google.com/maps/@33.0057798 ... 312!8i6656

Now I'll be following the mainline from Nahariyya to Haifa. Here is the first railroad crossing I came across. Safetran systems all around :D
https://www.google.com/maps/@32.9409818 ... 312!8i6656

Here's the next crossing on Ben Ami Street, it has since been abolished and replaced with an underpass.
https://www.google.com/maps/@32.9238993 ... 312!8i6656

The next crossing at Boltimor Street.
https://www.google.com/maps/@32.8990959 ... 312!8i6656

This is the closest I could be to this crossing north of the major seaport of Haifa.
https://www.google.com/maps/@32.8079928 ... 312!8i6656

This line branches off at a wye located at the Haifa yard, this run to the container port.
https://www.google.com/maps/@32.8023318 ... 312!8i6656

Leaving the Haifa station is this crossing, again this is closest I could get.
https://www.google.com/maps/@32.8273184 ... 312!8i6656

This crossing doesn't have direct streetview access, but the underpass in between does. It was also active when they passed so that's a plus.
https://www.google.com/maps/@32.8288529 ... 312!8i6656

Now we're following the coastal mainline south to Tel Aviv, here's another rural crossing seen from the freeway.
https://www.google.com/maps/@32.7509649 ... 312!8i6656

Now this crossing can't even be seen from streetview, but someone took a photo of it, so here it is.
https://www.google.com/maps/@32.708751, ... 1024!8i768

Now this crossing has been closed for some reason, I don't know why but it is.
https://www.google.com/maps/@32.6897838 ... 312!8i6656

Here's a crossing with an interesting story, the crossing at HaBonim. Now theres no streetview to it, but someone took a photo here too.
https://www.google.com/maps/@32.635996, ... 600!8i1200
It was at this very crossing were in 1985 Israel's worst train accident occured. You can read about it here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HaBonim_disaster

Moving south we find another crossing, with the standard equipment.
https://www.google.com/maps/@32.6105846 ... 312!8i6656

There's another crossing south of this one, but there's no photo or coverage of it so we'll move on.
This is the next crossing, this one having a 4-quad setup!
https://www.google.com/maps/@32.3498592 ... 312!8i6656

Now we're just north of the city of Tel Aviv, here's the next crossing.
https://www.google.com/maps/@32.1891535 ... 312!8i6656

Now here's a very nice setup, note the sensor technology on the left-hand side, I believe those come from Siemens.
https://www.google.com/maps/@32.1791842 ... 312!8i6656
Here's a video of this very crossing in action in 2018, I wonder if the Safetran bells are still there.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CEvJ7ko ... dex=6&t=0s

Now from here on the railway famously runs between the Alayon Highway, here is where I'll end this section. Trust me there is PLENTY more crossings to document, lemme know what y'all think.

I don't know why, but I just see Israeli Railroad Crossing signals a little weird looking, like between the mast set-up and the crossbuck, just doesn't seem to fit right. Between a European-style crossbuck on a American/Canadian-style mast.

Although, it might just be me though.
