Stumpy cantilever

Mooresville, NC (Norfolk Southern)
Starts with a full-size cantilever base, even. Makes you wonder if the signal was there first and had to be altered due to the building, or if someone was just being thrifty with parts at the time.

Some RACO 12x20s on that signal as well, while the mast signal on the other side has (presumably RACO) 8 inch lights on it. Given how the Southern Railway was only using 12 inch lights on the overheads of their cantilevers at the time, I'm guessing they chose to do a custom "rebuild" of a cantilever that was to go in there for visibility purposes while preserving the old depot. Funnily enough, I was considering a trip out to NC in September, and was planning on going to the Teardrop in Stanley (not too far from there) to get that filmed, so I might add a couple of extra stops to the itinerary...

Slightly unrelated, but a few crossings down is a crossing that got a mix of GE Dotted LEDs and Dialight Low Wattage LEDs installed at it by NS back in 2022. Can't say I'd seen NS use those Dialights before.
