Hawthorn, CA Wig-wag is being replaced
Found this video on YouTube today, showing the wig-wag with one of the new signals that are replacing it:
This means that there'll be one less wig-wag out there.

I hate to see another wig wag go down, but watching that video and hearing the little "tink" of it's bell... makes me understand why it's happening.

The wooden pole holding up the wig-wag could be rotting out and the relay case looks to be rusted out as well. Sad to see another wig-wag gone, I just hope it goes to a good home.

I was checking out this crossing on Google map and found it has been removed and replaced by two gated signals.

The upgrade clearly took some time, it wasn't even completed by late-2017!gamefan wrote:I was checking out this crossing on Google map and found it has been removed and replaced by two gated signals.

Re: Hawthorn, CA Wig-wag is being replaced
Part of the reason it could have taken so long was due to pushback from locals, maybe UP wanted to ensure it didn't get destroyed and was finding a buyer/donor, all sorts of reasons.NathanFromEngland wrote: The upgrade clearly took some time, it wasn't even completed by late-2017!
