Last Wigwag in Washington State Out of Service

Post by LARDLOGO » Thu Mar 15, 2018 11:14 pm

Well, it was going to happen sooner or later, but it's still shocking enough that I had to return to the boards.

This right here was the final wigwag in Washington State still in service, serving on the Pullman- Colfax rail line. The line was only being used for storage about twice a year if anything a couple years back. Now the line isn't needed anymore and is in the first stages of being pulled out. As you can see in the Facebook post, Tracks Out of Service signs adjourn the wigwag.

On the bright side, the City of Pullman replied to someone who was concerned about the signal in one of their posts. The Washington State Department of Transportation owns the line and is aware of the wigwag. They are working on a way to save it. So atleast something positive came out of this. Still shameful that there will soon be no more wigwags in Washington.

The first link doesn't work for some reason. Sad to hear that it's going away though. Hopefully it'll get put on a display that can be operated like the one at the Heart of Dixie Railroad Museum.
They/Them for me, please.

That's a real bummer. I was really hoping that one was intentionally being preserved (at the crossing). :OhWell:

Wow, I really do hope that the wigwag gets preserved!

Wonder why the are pulling the signals out instead of leaving them in place with the tracks. They can just easily place the Tracks Out of Service signs over the signals as well.
Crossing pictures from Plant City, FL are finally here! viewtopic.php?f=13&t=2538
