yes one of the o st pedestal gates in Merced ,ca is gone!

however we recently went to san fransisco to do alcatraz and we ate at the mexican restraunt next to the tracks. and for thos who are wondering yes it was a good meal, but back to the discussionn i got a good look of the crossing and saw it had one pedestal gate and i know this crossing by heart and knew one of the gate mechanism was removed it was the one closet to the restraunt that was removed.

very lucky to live two-three blocks away from three teardrop bells. one of which i see at least once a week!

Some WCH Clear LEDs there...

Also, EM gate mechs weren't exactly known for being maintenance friendly, nor have they been made in years, so railroads that have them are just going to steadily replace them.

I've seen stories of people having to get onto their backs just to even maintain them. :Eeeeek:

well then in that case doesn't i make you wonder what they look like on the inside?
