Man dies after being struck by Merseyrail train

Post by NathanFromEngland » Tue May 07, 2019 10:58 am

Seems like accidents are becoming common here, which is a concern most likely because these accidents are most likely being caused by misuse.
A 21-year-old died after being hit by a train in Hoylake.

Emergency services were called to a level crossing close to Melrose Avenue, on May 2.

Hazardous area response team, advanced paramedic and rapid response vehicles arrived at the scene and a man was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

However today, May 7, British Transport Police confirmed the man, who was 21-years-old, died a short time later in hospital.

A spokesman for BTP told the ECHO : "This incident is not currently being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner."

Following the incident, which occurred just before 10am, Merseyrail trains were suspended on the Hoylake and West Kirkby line.
Seems like the accident occured here, although it's also used by emergency vehicles IIRC as there are signs for emergency access.
