I was casually browsing YouTube and stumbled across this video that showed a Norfolk Southern intermodal train that struck at a car at speed, then derailed.
AFAIK, this is what i can recall.
1. The train strikes the car
2. As the train was slowing to a stop, the car struck several power lines which caused a blackout although the crossing featured in this video remained operational most likely due to backup battery kicking in.
3. The car jacked up a switch, and derailed the train.
Nobody has been injured, though 12 cars and both locomotives were derailed and the occupant of the car hasn't been found. AFAIK i believe the signalling system for the line was damaged in the incident.
