Some flat sounding bells

Post by freebrickproductions » Thu Apr 27, 2017 8:12 pm

Here's a very, very flat Safetran mechanical bell that was in Shiloh, IL: (at 2:20 in the video)

And the first crossing in this video in Pennsylvania has a rather flat bell at it as well:
There should be a legal limit as to how humid it can be on any given day during the summer here in the South...

They actually sound kind of cool like that. I also didn't know that Metrolink operated in more rural areas like that. I also have to wonder if it is the only interstate light rail system in the United States?

How does a such thing happens? When i hear a flat sounding Bell, its usualy beacause the Bell froze due to our strong winters.

Could be anything really, but the real answer is just gong interference.

Ahhh... the old "beating a frying pan with a metal spoon" sound. :Tongue1:

I wonder if it's because they have the bolt on the gong too tight? Could also be a wasp nest inside the gong or something to that effect.

This one has a pair of flat-sounding RACOs:

Sounds like a cowbell!

Heres a crossing in Anderson, Indiana that has a pretty clankish sounding WRRS mechanical bell.

One of the crossings shown in this video has an extremely flat WCH mechanical bell:
