WRRS (Early FS) Possible GRSA Gong Information

Post by UPking » Thu Mar 05, 2020 8:23 am

My first bell that I ever obtained was a WRRS, missing its base. It has an extremely odd gong that sounds exactly like a teardrop bell or a GRSA Bell. I need more information on this gong since I have never heard a WRRS bell that sounds anything like mine.

My bell is made out of aluminum as it’s very light and it has the WRRS 222/FS Bell paper inside.

If anyone has more information about this odd gong that would be great!
Bells go "ding". Lights go "flash". And the WCH Gate Mechanism at Kirkwood Road goes "chigRRRRRRRRRRRRRrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr".

It’s not likely that the bell was manufactured like that, but that’s a possibility. There’s a chance that the gong had some sort of impurity, or it was replaced, if the original gong cracked... who knows.
Proud owner of a Safetran 3rd Gen M-Bell, a GS Type 2 bell, a dead GS type 1 bell, a WRRS M-bell, and a US&S H-2 searchlight signal.

Kinda sounds like a bryant zinc or rrs gong. My best guess is that the original gong was damaged and needed to be replaced, and they used a bryant zinc/rrs gong.
