Safetran Hybrid and Safetran type 1 electronic bells...

Post by Smjh1979 » Fri Feb 20, 2009 1:42 pm

Although Safetran doesn't link to these bells anymore, they are still on Safetran's site, and hidden quite well!

Now if anyone calls Safetran, at least you can have an item/part number at the very least to order, in case they still sell any of these bells... They even show the voltages, weight, and so on...

I called Safetran today...to inquire about a hybrid bell. The guy said they are obsolete now...and he offered a replacement part number and told me it was a WCH No. 333 mechanical bell. It's list price is only a measly $449. I'm not that suprised with the price...as I called US&S to inquire about a counterweight kit for my Model 75...since they are exactly the same as what the Model 95 uses...just the standard square ones...and that was $660 alone, just for the counterweights and mounting hardware! No wonder CN is re-using the old counterweights when they install new Model 95's.

Too bad for the Hybrid...but I kinda figured it was defunct now. The railroads were dumb not to continue buying them...as they are alot more reliable than the electronic ones that just about always fail within 5-10 years...if not sooner. :glare: :Awww:

That sucks..... :Censored:

Too bad you couldn't find out about a type 1 e-bell, but I'm pretty sure you'd get the same thing about it being obsolete...

The only WCH Electronic Bell in Southeast Florida was dead when I caught the crossing activating for a cut of Florida rock aggregate hoppers on CSX. The electronic ones are worse, mechanical bells live longer!
