I've been there myself. It was an awsome ride! I was there for the first day of the steam train back in '07. I got some videos of the wigwag as well.

Yeah, the lights on the Conway wig-wag are working, just kind of hard to see. As you said, you can see the lights in the second video for a short while. I had too shoot a few videos before I could find the right angle to get the lights working.
Thank you for the explanation. I would love to get out there and see that signal in action... but that won't be happening anytime soon I'm afraid.

Here's a cool new evening video of the Black Earth wigwag (I encouraged other local railfans to shoot it on the WSOR Yahoo! group, because of the Commish order).

Wigwag section starts about 40 seconds in. Wisconsin and Southern's 25th Anniversary commemorative locomotive also appears:

Joplin, MO Wigwag

Looks like this wig wag swings after all, stupid foamers!

Not to get off subject... but has it ever been confirmed that the Joplin wig wag survived last summer's tornado? I'm assuming it did based on the path of the tornado, but have never been able to find anything official.

I think the reason people think it doesn't swing is since it appears to always be stuck hanging to the right when not working, which is since when that signal was new, it had a sign that covered the banner when not in use. I wonder if the Joplin wig wag had chase lights, like this one:

Original post updated with many additional videos of Wisconsin wigwags, including some that have been gone since the 1990s!

Got the Baraboo wigwags on Tuesday (second scene after Devil's Lake). They are now the only wigwags left on the entire WSOR Southern Division, and the only ones left on the railroad apart from the three (among two crossings) in Plymouth. As far as I know there is still the pair on Saemann Avenue in Sheboygan on a UP branch line, and that's all she wrote.

Nice video! That one on the opposite side really swings fast!

Indeed. A second video by the same shooter shows the wigwag banner return to its resting position after operation.
